Coaching Certification Requirements

Below is the list of requirements that must be completed by every coach in order to participate with the Spring PAL Lacrosse League.

These requirements are for both boys and girls programs.

If you have not completed the certification programs you will not be permitted to coach. You can begin your coaching journey by clicking on the USA Lacrosse logo below.

**2025 USA Lacrosse coaching requirement update:
If you obtained certification last year as a "silver level" coach but DID NOT complete the "bronze level" coursework, you will need to go back and complete that coursework or you WILL NOT receive your badge.
Bronze is required to get a badge - if you have just bronze you are good if you have both silver and bronze you are good to go. If you only have silver - you MUST complete bronze also.

BOYS & GIRLS COACHING REQUIREMENTS

Membership

Every coach is required to have a USL Membership that is active through

June 1st or later or their coaching year.

Level 1 Certification

All coaches are required to hold minimally a Level 1 certification related to the sport they want to coch.

You may not coach Boys w/ a Girls Level one or visa versa.

Abuse Prevention

All coaches must have a valid Abuse Prevention course certification. This course is provided through USA Lacrosse.

Background Check

EVERY coach must submit to a background check. This is done through your USA Lacrosse membership.

CPR Certification

PAL has been providing free CPR training. If not available via PAL, SHYLAX will provide. This is required for all Head Coaches and recommended for Asssitant Coaches.

SHYLAX Coach Class

SHYLAX holds pre-season coaches meeting / class to review communications, program expectations and use of the LeagueApps tool. This class is mandatory for boys and girls coaches.

Submit USL Card

Upon completion of your certification, coaches need to email a copy of their USL Lacrosse Card.

Photo Headshot

If you are a first time coach you will need to submit a clear headshot photo for your PAL Badge.

Badges will be picked up by one of the directors. Your director will provide instructions for distribution or pick-up locations.
