SHYLAX ATHLETIC AWARD

Giving Back To Our Athletes

South Huntington Youth Lacrosse as part of our efforts to give back to our players and community has established the SHYLAX Athlete Award.  This award will be given to one (1) male and one (1) female High School Senior lacrosse athlete who is a former SHYLAX program participant.

Qualifications

  1. Must have played in the South Huntington Youth Lacrosse (SHYLAX) program as a Travel player in 2015 or later.

  2. Must have been active within the program for a minimum of two (2) seasons

  3. Must have participated in JV and/or Varsity Lacrosse Program at Walt Whitman High School

  4. Must complete a minimum of ten (10) hours of Community Service with five (5) of those hours dedicated to the SHYLAX program (documentation required).

  5. Must have applied and/or been accepted to a College or University to continue their education.

  6. Must complete in full the SHYLAX Athletic Award Application


How To Apply

A player can be either nominated or complete their application directly.  In either case the player will have to complete portions of the application themselves.  Instructions for completion are found within the secure online application.

APPLICATION PERIOD AND AWARD TIMEFRAME

Candidate Applications Accepted:    September 1st  through January 31st

Evaluation Timeline

  • Candidate Review Meeting:   MARCH

  • Award Decisions:                   APRIL 

  • Award Notifications:               MAY

  • Awards Issued:                       JUNE @ Gold Key Awards Banquet

The Board will evaluate candidates at a designated board meeting (or may elect a 5 person committee comprised of 2 Board Members and 3 Community Members).

RESTRICTIONS

  1. A player may only receive one award.  In the event, a player is awarded as a Junior he/she would not be eligible again as a senior.

  2. Children of SHYLAX Board Members or Scholarship Fund Committee are ineligible
